When a photon particle hits the n layer above the P-V cell, the photon particle is absorbed by the silicon, so the photon particle gives strength to the n level electrons. These electrons are mainly located in the valence band. When the electrons receive energy from the photon, the electrons cross the energy gap and enter the conduction band. Thus, the free electrons reside independently. Then when the circuit is filled, these electrons flow through the circuit, thus generating electricity.
